Get Informed on Facebook!

During the semester, you will become more aware of how popular culture portrays women, gender and sexuality.  To help with that, I highly recommend liking and following some feminist pop culture pages on Facebook.  You'll be more tuned into current events and issues that come up in your feed, and following them will make assignments like the research paper much easier to brainstorm.  Maybe you'll even be inspired share some posts on your wall and get your friends to engage with important issues!

These are the “big three” (and still have print versions of their magazines):

Founded by second wave feminists, this is the oldest and most established.

Bitch Magazine is a superb third wave publication that has expanded into a non-profit media organization.

Another established and well-respected third wave publication.

And these three are newer, but worth following:

A fantastic resource for current feminist issues, from fat shaming to racism to biphobia.

A more recent and popular news and media site run by young feminists.

For you Comic-Con fans, this is a feminist fangirl take on pop culture.
